Mawwāl [موال]

Arabierazko hizkera arruntean kantatzen den poesia da "Mawwāl" [موال], eta Ekialde Hurbilean eta Afrika Iparraldean zabalduta dago. Libanon oso entzutetsua da. Metrikarik gabekoa da, eta normalean 4 edo 7 lerrotako herri poesian oinarritzen da. Musika-tresnen laguntzaz (nagusiki "qanun" edo "oud"-az) edo bat ere gabe kantatu daiteke. Musikariek, kantaria jarraitzen dute "mawwāl"-a kantatzen duen bitartean, eta esaldi bakoitza laburbiltzen dute ("tarjama"). Sarritan musika-inprobisazio txiki batek ("taqsim") edo "mawwāl"-aren tonua aurreratuko duen konposizio batek ("doulab") egiten die sarrera. "Mawwāl" jardunean inprobisatzailearen, musikarien eta entzuleen artean etengabeko interakzioa eta elkartrukea ematen da.
