Mata-Kantiga

Malakako portuges kreoleran inprobisatzen zen kantua da Mata-kantiga. Portugalgo Cantares ao desafio edo Brasilgo Repentearen antzekoa.

Malaka inguruan eman zen bereziki, emakume eta gizonezko bikote baten artean inprobisatzen zituzten bertsoak, maitasunezkoak ("Cantigas de amigo"), kritikazkoak ("Cantigas de mal-dizer") edo hainbat gaiei buruz. Biolin, rebana (pandero txikia) eta danborraren laguntzaz inprobisatzen zen. Gaur egun ez da Mata Kantiga ematen, eta eragin portugesa ere duen Dondang Sayang kantu inprobisatua dago zabalduta.

"Mata-kantiga" is the song that used to be improvised in the Portuguese creole of Malacca. It is similar to the "Cantares ao desafio" of Portugal and the "Repente" of Brazil. It used to take place around Malacca in particular and verses were improvised between pairs of men and women; there were love songs ("Cantigas de amigo"), critical ones ("Cantigas de mal-dizer") and verses on a whole range of subjects.  They improvised accompanied on the violin, the "rebana" (small tambourine) and drum. Nowadays there is no "Mata Kantiga", and the Portuguese-influenced improvised "Dondang Sayang" song predominates.
