  • Description: "Tsiattistas" sing in Greek, in the Cypriot dialect. The improvising poets hold competitions between themselves and sing accompanied by violins and lutes.  The most used form is verses of 15 syllables, but they also use verses of 6, 8 or 9 syllables. Most of the improvisers are men of a certain age, but some women also participate today. It is included on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list.
