  • Description: This is improvised singing in Spanish performed in Mexico and it takes place over a wide area: Nuevo León, San Luis de Potosí, Guanajuato, Querétaro (ten-line stanza "arribeña"), Jalisco, Michoacán (ten-line stanza "calentana"), Guerrero, Oaxaca, Veracruz (ten-line stanza "jarocha"), Mexico City, Tamaupilas, Zacatecas, Puebla, Tabasco, Yucatán. Also included within this type of improvised art are the following different types: ten-line stanza, five-line stanza, couplet, six-line stanza, most are of 8 syllables, or of 6, accompanied by different musical instruments (guitar, vihuela, harp, Mexican guitar, requinto guitar) and a thousand ways of singing. Their transmission channels are being enhanced, nowadays we can find some women among the improvisers and it is also being introduced to young people.
