Kursaal hosted yesterday the closing event of Europa bat-batean which gathered improvisers from Austria, the Balearic Islands, the Basque Country, Cuba, Cyprus, Mexico and Wales. In addition to the individual shows, the audience enjoyed the exchange between delegations too. A great ending for the project started in autumn 2015.
Improvised verse singing, support for minorized languages
The academic conferences within Europa bat-batean are over. Marta Souto, Eurig Salisbury, Miren Artetxe and Alber Casals have talked about languages in a minorized situation -Galician, Welsh, Basque and Catalan- and they have pointed out the importance of oral improvisation as a tool for the normalization of these languages.

The presentation of the map brought an end to the fifth day of the Europa bat-batean academic workshops. Previously, experts from all around the world had discussed the general situation of orality and improvised song.
