Registration is open for the academic conference in July

International experts will lecture on world improvised verse singing as well as dealing in-depth with subjects such as the handing down from generation to generation, the relationship between oral tradition and minority languages and the gender perspective. The academic conference will be held in Donostia-San Sebastián from 11th to 15th July.

Mintzola Ahozko Lantegia will participate for third year in a row in the UPV/EHU Summer Courses. This year the academic conference has been organized in relation to Europa bat-batean World Improvised Verse Singing Meeting, in collaboration with Donostia / San Sebastián 2016 European Capital of Culture and UPV/EHU Summer Courses.

From 11th to 15th July, between 09:00 and 13:30, international experts will inform about several researches and reflections on improvised verse singing. Among other issues, they will debate on improvised verse singing in the Catalan Countries, Austria, Murcia, Cyprus, Brasil, Cuba, Mexico, the Basque Country, Karelia, the United States, Galicia and Wales. The handing down from generation to generation, the relationship between oral tradition and minority languages and the gender perspective will inspire the content of the lectures, round table discussions and the film projections displayed throughout the week.

In view of the range of issues discussed, this conference is designed for a broad spectrum of public: they will be very enriching, not just for the fans, creators and experts interested in improvised singing, but also for teachers who work in the area of intergenerational transmission, for anyone interested in gender perspective and for all people with an interest in minority languages.

In order to make things easier for those interested in taking part a five-day pass may be requested (80 euros) or, for anyone who prefers, a one-day pass (25 euros).

The enrolment will be open until 6th July in the following website.
